Halo 3 ODST, the prequel campaign between Halo 2 and Halo 3, offers users the unique opportunity to take on Covenant forces as a rookie Orbital Drop Shock Trooper rather than the head honcho Master Chief. Even though the rookie characters are smaller- about the size of the grunts that the Master Chief towers over- they still hold their own in battle and get the job done.
Halo 3 ODST mainly encompasses street scenes in the city of New Mombasa. Rookies seek out beaconed items abandoned by missing members of their squad. Once located, the rookies are transported to the last fought location. One unique activity is the WIldlife Stuffs. If you encounter enemies while playing the single-player campaign, the Elite general in charge of the invasion will drop a gift of a toy gift for you. These toys are toys of Halo 3 ODST specific enemies.
These toys are not only fun to expand your toy collection but are practical for the campaign. They add new firepower to the kill throws and add a new level of customization when you battle the flood. One toy, the personal armor carrier, allows you to transport other people around you, but only when you’re not busy attacking enemies. Other toys, like the jetpack, allow you to stay in the air longer or increase your superhero abilities. One toy, the rope launcher, can even be used to hang onto moving objects.
Amazing Features of Halo 3 ODST
One cool addition that I found in ODST is the new chatter system. If you can’t figure out how to say something, you can simply hit the space bar and type. The new Communication tool also adds another dimension to the menu system, improving gameplay and making chatting with teammates easier.
In addition to the single-player campaign, Halo 3 ODST also includes a co-op campaign mode. Serpent’shook, the Promethean megastructure, is the main goal for the campaign, although many of the missions can also be played solo. You can also activate sufferlers toeway through the map, although all gameplay requires more people.
As you would expect, Halo 3 ODST is full of the new maps that are designed specifically for the Left4Dead series. Players will travel to new locations on their journey, fighting new enemies and bosses that will be new to them. There is also the addition of the locally hosted playlist, a mode where players are allowed to join one of three lists depending on their skill level. They can join a novice list to learn the ropes, or they can join a more experienced list to improve their performance. There are also plenty of Boomer and consumption crawlers to fight, and an assortment of weapons, armor, and vehicles to collect along the way.
Unfortunately, Halo 3 ODST suffered from a few glitches and bugs that did not appear in the initial game. There were issues with the smoke flares and missiles, and problems with weapon durability. These requirements did not appear to be too large an issue, however, and subsequent patches have worked around them.
The revamped campaign allows users to take on the role of an ODST squad leader. You are responsible for leading your squads to difficult overcome, whether it is across the battlefield, or performing specific objectives that are set forth for each squad. This makes the campaign a lot more interactive, complex, and challenging.
In addition to their role in the campaign, ODSTs are still widely useful for the ongoing Halo multiplayer appeal. Since players’ first encounter, ODSTs have been widely effective in skirmish matches, and in eliminating the enemy mode. Sometimes, ODSTs are even more effective when added to the Halo 5 team, which has access to a superior range of firepower weapons. This just adds to the fun.
For Halo ODST, you can expect to see many returning weapons from the previous games, as well as a few new weapons that are sure to be sought after. Also added to the game are better graphics, revamped armors, and other modifications and upgrades.
Overall, Halo 3 ODST provided Microsoft with a rushed sequel, but it was also developed with a great deal of care and love. Anyone who gemishes the series will definitely enjoy Halo 3 ODST. This is definitely not for everybody, but fans of the series will not be disappointed.
